For the past several months it seems a conspiracy has been brewing within the Obama team.  The Democrats were losing their punching bag of President Bush and they needed someone else to throw sticks and stones at.

Politico,  Jonathon Martin,  has a piece about “Rush Job”

Top Democrats believe they have struck political gold by depicting Rush Limbaugh as the new face of the Republican Party, a full-scale effort first hatched by some of the most familiar names in politics and now being guided in part from inside the White House.

The strategy took shape after Democratic strategists Stanley Greenberg and James Carville included Limbaugh’s name in an October poll and learned their longtime tormentor was deeply unpopular with many Americans, especially younger voters. Then the conservative talk-radio host emerged as an unapologetic critic of Barack Obama shortly before his inauguration, when even many Republicans were showering him with praise.

Soon it clicked: Democrats realized they could roll out a new GOP bogeyman for the post-Bush era by turning to an old one in Limbaugh, a polarizing figure since he rose to prominence in the 1990s.

President Bush never spoke out for his agenda or policies, he just listened and stayed calm.  But with Rush Limbaugh, the Democrats have a different type of person.  Rush is not running for office, he is saying what he believes and he is earning a living doing it. 

I guess the Democrats think this strategy will “break up” the Republicans, make them choose to listen to Rush or listen to them.   In my opinion, it will bring the party back together.  Give them something to fight for.  Freedom.  Freedom to be who we are, freedom to be the Capitalist United States.  We have thrived on this type of freedom and we want to continue this freedom.  Not the socialist road the new administration is taking us down. 

The famous line now by Rush is “I hope he fails”.  Of course, what the Democrats are not telling you is that Rush wants the policies, the socialist policies of the Obama administration to fail.  The over taxing, redistribution of wealth, to fail.  If this administration is listening, it is not just Rush Limbaugh, I’m sure a Tea Party will be coming your way soon, if it has not already happened in your home town.

After Rush made his “address to the nation” at CPAC, the media again was all over “I hope he fails”.  But now, even Gibbs seems to be backing down.

Rush has now offered to debate President Obama.  I doubt that Obama will take Rush up on this offer.
