House Passed Spendulus Without Republicans Vote
Posted by: acm in bailout, democrats, tags: democrats, stimulusYou knew it would happen. And yes, the Democrats in the House voted to pass the stimulus without one Republican vote. Only seven Democrats voted against it this time and one voted “present”. hmm, wonder where he learned that from.
Just why do we need a fast train from LA to Vegas? Why do we need the government to tell our Doctor how to treat us? Why do we need a Mob Museum?
The Senate is up next to vote. Kennedy will not be there, and Gregg will be back to vote. If the three Republicans that voted for it to begin with will vote no this time, we might have a chance.
The House did change a few things, but the Democrats are not giving anyone a chance to read it before they vote. Weren’t they taught not to vote, sign, etc until they read it? How is that representation?

· $9 billion for school construction was added back in (originally cut by the Nelson-Collins “compromise”);
· $5 billion was added to the state fiscal stabilization fund (originally cut by Nelson-Collins), making it a grand total of $53.6 billion;
· $1 billion was added back for Prevention & Wellness Programs, including STD education; and
· $2 billion for neighborhood stabilization program.

When CNSNews.com asked members of both parties on Capitol Hill on Thursday whether they had read the full, final bill, not one member could say, “Yes.”…
“The Democrats have thrown this at us very last-minute,” said Rep. Zach Wamp (R-Tenn.). “That’s why the rule of thumb in the United States Congress should be, ‘When in doubt, vote no,’ because the devil is in the details and that’s why this stimulus is not worthy of support.”
Rep. John Boozman (R-Ark.) shared that sentiment. “The American public expects for us to get in and know what we’re voting on,” Boozman said. “But there are very few members from Congress that are going to have time to actually read this thing.”
