For several years, we Texans have been watching the drug wars in Mexico.  At times they come across the border into Texas.  We never hear about other states, California, Arizona and New Mexico, we don’t know what is happening there.

The national media just hasn’t covered it.  I guess they just think its not a big deal.  But all of a sudden it is being covered and now they are wondering, are our borders safe?

In Texas, there are about 70 US citizens missing in Mexico and presumed dead.  Some went to Mexico and never returned, and some were kidnapped in the US never to be seen again.

People are against the border fence.  All they are thinking about is the migrant workers just trying to make a living.  But then there are some of us that know it is more than just trying to keep the illegals out of the US.  We hope it will help keep the drug smugglers out.  Not all, it will never keep all people out.  But every little bit helps.  Yes, we have border patrol agents, but they are out numbered, out gunned, and over worked.  They are not able to patrol every mile of our border.

If Mexico collapse and we start having wars on our side of the border, what will it take for the rest of the nation to realize that it is not just Mexico, but Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and then you go into Panama, Colombia, Venezuela.   We are just not concerned about Mexico, but there are other nations that come in through our border on the South.

Glenn Beck said it best the other day, if Mexico collapses under the drug wars and it spills over to Texas and any of the other states on the border, yes, we will defend ourselves, and yes, we will not wait for the rest of the country to “decide” if this is really a threat.
