That’s it.  Just Say No to the so called renamed stimulus package.  It is a Generational Theft Act of 2009 as Michelle Malkin calls it.

The House Republicans voted NO, even though most Democrats voted for it.  177 Republicans and 11 Democrats opposed, one Republican had to leave early.   Kudos to the Democrats that showed courage.

Now the package goes to the Senate.   Let’s hope the Republicans in the Senate will show the same courage.   This package is full of pork.  Obama says 3-4 million jobs will be created, how?  I want it spelled out.  They said the first package would free up money and help with the housing problems, yeah right.  No money was freed up, no mortgage money was flowing.   The banks are more cautious now, Fanny and Freddie are still hurting and need more cash.  Just how long can we prop up these failing institutions?

The Cato Institute ran an ad in today’s paper, which I’m sure was ran across the nation.

More government speeding by Hoover and Roosevelt did not pull the United States economy out of the Great Depression in the 1930’s.  More government speeding did not solve Japan’s “lost decade” in the 1990’s.  As such, it is a triumph of hope over experience to believe that more government speeding will help the U.S. today. To improve the economy, policymakers should focus on reforms that remove impediments to work, saving, investment and production.  Lower tax rates and a reduction in the burden of government are the best ways to using fiscal policy to boost growth.

When Carter was in office, the first two years the market and gold went “sideways”.  The next two years were inflation.  Gold went high.  Now the market and gold seem to be going “sideways” again.  In two years we will be back in inflation.
